Zolon Zeh’s ministry began under the leadership of other ministers in the Gospel Assembly body, including the convicted child molester Tom Jolly. Since the late 1960’s, Zolon Zeh has been the pastor the Iuka Gospel Assembly Church. In March of 1971, he became the pastor of the Gospel Assembly Church in Greenville, MS. His ministry grew in both churches as people from all walks of life were drawn to his teaching and the vision he proclaimed of restoring the church.
Zeh steadily formed close relationships with members in the church and became an integral part of many lives. Many church members brought every major decision and many minor ones before him for his counsel. These close relationships gave Zeh the opportunity to take advantage of the women who came to him for answers. The counseling sessions that Zeh had with these women were one on one and neither Zeh’s wife nor any elder of the church were present to oversee them. Proclaiming his authority as a minister of God, (he publicly dared anyone to challenge his authority) Zeh allegedly threatened women with the judgments of God for all the souls that would be lost should they tell anyone what he was doing to them. The psychological pressure of being told that they were responsible for the souls of the church members caused these women to give in to his alleged sexual demands. It is unclear as to when Zeh’s sexual impropriety began, but the allegations state that they have been ongoing since the early 1970’s
How could Zeh’s actions been covered up for all this time? It is the belief of the creators of this website that there have been members in Zeh’s church who suspected these activities to be ongoing for years, but have had no proof on which to base their suspicions. To most that believe in his ministry, Zeh is a great inspiration and an example of what a true servant of God should be. And naturally so, because what could be more noble and sincere than carrying out the work of God? Zeh is an extremely hard worker and seems to always put the physical welfare of church members (who support him) at the top of his priority list. His knowledge of the scriptures and his superior understanding of human psychology allow him to easily manipulate the minds of those that look to him for leadership. In the eyes of some, he has become everything even to the point of taking the place of Jesus Christ by becoming a savior offering his followers salvation and a relationship with God. He has specifically stated that no one could access Jesus Christ except through his ministry. He also stated that church members were not Jesus’ disciples but instead were his disciples and it was his job to present these members faultless before Jesus Christ. His teachings over the last decade have become increasingly more extreme and erratic as he uses scriptures to defend his actions and eliminate any resistance to his teachings.
For example, I Chronicles 16:22 seems to be the key scripture for Zolon Zeh when any threat to his leadership is imminent:
“Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.”
What about Romans 2:22, a scripture that was rarely mentioned in his sermons:
“Thou sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit? Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?”
Members of the church who did not agree with Zeh's teachings or actions were shunned by other members of the congregation at the direction of Zeh. Labeled as "trouble-makers" or "workers of iniquity" these straying members were disfellowshipped, which means they were removed from all church functions and activities. Zeh informed the rest of his followers that they were to have nothing to do with these “backsliders”, simply because they posed a threat to his leadership, or as he put it “hindering the work of God.” Of course, no one questioned his authority because that would be seen as questioning God. This mentality has allowed Zeh to control by fear, has allowed his power to go unchecked, and has been the perfect cover for his alleged sexually abusive behavior towards numerous women in the church.
The sexual abuse allegations of Zolon Zeh have not been limited to the Iuka GAC only. There are also victims in the Greenville, MS GAC who claim they have been sexually abused by Zeh. Each member of both Gospel Assembly Churches under the leadership of Zolon Zeh should examine their church and find out for themselves the truth behind these grave allegations.
